As well as making money, businesses also have social responsibilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, a growing number of businesses are running to make a profit. They do not care about society and remain in development. I agree that all of the businesses need to have responsibilities with society.
On the other hand, there are several reasons why all of a business must seek to make their profit. First, they have to survive in competitive and globalize market. When a firm spend much of money for society, their profit could be decreased. If this were regularly the case, even they could not operate their business. Second, companies also need to invest in things to remain successful. Most businesses hope an increased productivity and their business results so that they always spend the priority for things such as infrastructures, types of equipment and training staff. My sister s’ firm example, she usually spends about 10% of profit on training staff in overseas and 20% profit to buy production line. It might seem sensible to make her company operate more productivity.
On the other hand, I also agree that business should not be run with the objectives of maximizing profit, they have an important role to play in society. First, companies should have a policy about worker ‘s salaries. Clearly, if a business has a good result in the previous year, they could have a premium for staff. If the staff has a burden on their families such as an accident, diseases, and disaster, firms need to support them in time. Second, I also like the idea that business could use a proportion to aid orphanage. It aims to improve the health and education of many orphan children. Besides, companies also build well their brand.
In conclusion, I agree with the opinion business should support society while they make a profit. If this were the case, both society and business always develop together.
