Hi, You can say both. Is there some reason that you are late? Are there some reasons that you are late?

Hi,

You can say both.

Is there some reason that you are late?

Are there some reasons that you are late?

Doesn't it sound better with 'any'?

Hi,

Maybe, maybe not.

Both 'some' and 'any' sound like I am rather vexed with you. Possibly 'some' sounds a little more vexed.

A neutral (ie not vexed sounding) way of asking the question would be

'Why are you late?'
