Help me modify the cover letter

Dear Prof. XXX,
I am writing to inquire about the availability of PhD position in your group. I know you from your published papers as well as your personal website, and I am very interested in your research field. I wonder whether you can consider my eager wish of join your group.

From your papers, I found you are an outstanding scientist in the field of OLED and solar cell, your papers often provide original innovations and applications which enlighten others in research. I admire you and believe I can gain a lot of state-of-art knowledge from you. Therefore, I wrote this letter for Ph.D. candidate application.

During my master study, I have spent lots of times on experiment and accumulate rich experience in testing. As a reward of my exertion, I have published 2 papers as first author and 1 papers as co-author. I believe my academic background will support me in future research.

When I read Master’s first year, my dissertation work focuses on synthesizing functional nano-materials with tunable properties and morphologies by hydrothermal, solvothermal and coprecipitation methods; and I have published 2 papers. Based on systematic study of the effect of thermodynamic and kinetic factors on the phase, shape and size of obtained nano/microcrystals, I have gained a clear understanding of the underlying principles of nucleation and growth for the semiconductor and fluoride materials, and formed some concepts for the controlled fabrication. Additionally, the downconversion and upconversion luminescence properties of rare earth ions are carefully investigated, due to their potential applications as biological labels.

In the final year of my master degree, I was selected as a visiting student to xxx, supervised by Prof. XXX, xxx. Based on the eaily work and combined the experimental conditions of the new group. My work focuses on preparation and characterization of the smart stimuli responsive CDDSs that can respond to external stimuli, such as pH, redox potential, temperature, with magnetic/Luminescence properties and applications as drug delivery systems. I come into contact with some knowledge of biomedical and organic chemistry. New research areas makes me filIed with curiosity and feel creativity in research. By conducting laboratory activities, strengthened my theoretical knowledge, standardized my experiment operation, sharpened my critical thinking as well as became conversant with characteristic equipments, especially those related to rare earth luminescence and biological applications. When I meet unknown issues, I always try my best to solve them and meanwhile touch exciting about learning new knowledge and software. I just enjoy this feeling, curiosity to unfamiliar and eager to learn. I believe I will be a good researcher. Therefore, I have made a solid decision to become a Ph.D. and continue the journey in research.

Since your team is one of the tip-top research groups, I always pay attention to your excellent research, and I believe that there would be a good fit between my research experience and your research area. I am also confident that I can make an immediate and great contribution to your group in the controlled synthesis and optical characterization of nanocrystals. Certainly, it will be very helpful for my academic career if I am lucky enough to be a member of your group to continue my research work under your guidance. A strong desire for learning triggers me to be a creative, well-organized, and innovative achiever. Self-motivation, warm-hearted, strong independent problem solving ability and interpersonal skills also make me easy to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
