Help me Learn Active - passive

Take a transitive verb. Make a sentence with it that has a direct object.

Mary threw the ball.
John is eating the pizza.
The committee has written the rules.

Those are all active.
______

Now make the corresponding passive sentences. Take the object of the active sentence (ball, pizza, rules) and make it the subject. The active subject

What is the passive?

You've only got three parts to fuss with.

(Two of the new editors) (interviewed) (Marla Jacobson).

Rearrange them following the same transformation as for the shorter sentences and add by in the right place.

What could be simpler, huh?

Yes. That's right. Are you making this more difficult than it is?

If you want the active, you'll have to switch the first and last parts again, and modify the middle part -- this time removing the by.
