Help me, I'm all confused.

I have a pain in my arm.
I have a pain in my arms.
I have pains in my arms.

I think the first sentence means 'I have one type of pain in either arm(right or left arm), but could it also mean 'I have one type of pain(the same pain) in both arms.'? Or for that, would it be better to say the second sentence: 'I have a pain in my arms.'?

And about the third sentence, does it mean 'I have two or more different types of pain in each arm.'?, or what does it really mean?

I am very confused about the meaning of these three sentences. I hope someone could clear it up for me.

Thank you very much.

What you've written isn't natural. I'd say "My arm hurts" or "My arms hurt." (I played on the Wii too long yesterday.)

I have a sharp pain in my elbow = one arm (I didn't say which) hurts

I have sharp pain in both elbows = both arms hurt

I have odd pains in both arms = mutliple sources of pain in both arms

Pain (or a pain) in your arm just means your arm hurts, or somewhere along the length of your arm you are experiencing pain.

Pains in your arm can mean the pain is intermittent. It hurts, then not, then it hurts, then not. Maybe it only hurts when the weather is too hot or too cold. Or it could mean you have two or more pains; for example, one near the wrist, another above the elbow.

Thank you very much.
I think I would go with 'My arm hurts/My arms hurt.' as you suggested.
