Help me! home? the home?

I am participating in an english debate and it's killing me!!!

Anyway, this is my question. Is there a grammatical problem with this sentence?

"Children's place is in school and women's place is in home"

What happens if I change it to

"Chidren's places are in schools and women's places are in homes"

And...

"A child's place is in school and a woman's place is in the home'

Thanx a lot for having a look at my question ^^

  • It's a matter of what sounds more idiomatic.

"A child's place is in school and a woman's place is in the home" is correct. The other versions are incorrect.

Hi,

Think of 'in school' as a pretty idiomatic and fixed kind of phrase.
We say it that way because we say it that way.
