Task 2: Organized tour to remote areas and community is increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for the local people and environment?
It is easy to see that traveling is a basic need of our society. Besides some traditional traveling style, it is witnessed that there is an upsurge in organizing tour to pristine destinations and community. Personally, I suppose that this mainstream renders both beneficial and adverse outcomes to indigenous people and environment.
On the one hand, there are endless benefits to native people. Firstly, it will create many job opportunities which will open a significant milestone for local people. For example, these days, there is a new propensity for tourists who want to flock to far-flung areas of Vietnam to discover many spectacular landscapes and some traditional customs. As a result, many local people have become local tour guides who play a vital role in helping tourists understand about the indigenous lifestyle and earn more incomes which help them enhance their living standard. Secondly, tourists can understand clearly about the cultural values which are highly entrenched in ethnic groups. It would be very interesting to witness many outdoor activities and festivals of ethnic minorities which tourists have never seen before. These activities will strengthen the interflow of cultures and traditions between the people in different regions.
On the other hand, we cannot deny that these tours bring many benefits to local people. However, they also have detrimental impacts on natural environment. Firstly, tourists can make a havoc of the pristine sightseeing. When many tourists visit these places, the local authorities cannot control all activities. They can grow cans or garbage anywhere they want which is a big menace to natural environment. More importantly, these activities will disorder the traditional lifestyle of local people. To motivate the development of this kind of tourism, the government can build many tall buildings to meet the need of tourists and gain income for country’s funds, they don’t care about some environment- related which will switch the local lifestyle.
To sum up, the government and travel agencies needs to organize these tours reasonably because if they have feasible solutions, tourism will develop strongly and local people will have a better life.
