Help me check my passage , please?

The chart compares the percentage of people in a specific Asian country who passed their driving exam from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, the rates increased during the period given, except the figure for female from 2000 to 2010, which experienced a slight decline. In addition, women had the higher rates of succeeding gainning a driving licence than men did.
In 1980, nearly 50 percent of women passed their driver's test, which was significantly higher than that of men with around 30 percent. Over the ten- year period , the former figure rose slightly by 5 percent and then significantly climbed up to nearly 70 percent. Similarly, the latter former grew moderately by 10 percent and boomed at around 50 percent in 2000.
From that time onwards , however, the rate of female who got through their driving exam , showed a decline to around 65 percent while the figure for male stayed unchanged at 50 percent.
