I got this sentence from my QT book and am wondering why it has an indefinte article there when I thought when you have something definite like "the fourth page," you would normally put a definite article in front of the noun.
The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth.
Do we use the phrase "on earth" instead of "on the earth" because it is idiomatic?
Top answer
Earth is being used as a proper noun here so it should be Earth (the name of the planet). That is why it has no article.

Or on earth as in the natural state of earth. AKA As in dirt.
The definate article is not placed so it could be that ; THE FOURTH BEAST WILL COME OUT OF THE EARTH (land or dirt). I had the same question last year in my highschool bible class!
