"Colloquy Woman with Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

In the morning March 16 2017, Colloquy “Woman with technology” that was held in HCM City University of Technology (HCMUT) – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City brought successful IT woman’s inspired stories for schoolgirls. This is a program in a series of activities of The female scholarship program (Microsoft YouthSpark), Vietnam Microsoft.

Attending and discussing at the colloquy, there were the guests from HCM City University of Technology: People’s Teacher. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Tuoi – Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam association for intellectual women, the former Secretary of Communist Party, the HCMUT’s former Principal; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Nhan – the HCMUT’s Vice Chairman HCM Communist Youth Union and college students of HCMUT and UIT.

In the colloquy, Peole’s Teacher. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Tuoi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Hong Nhan conlsuted about the ways of study at university, advantages and disadvantages for female of studying and working in technology field; the ways of balance work life and family life, behavior between parents and children and friends,… for schoolgirls by specific lively evidences. In addition, Tran Thi Kim Ngan (faculty of Computer Science and Engineering’s student at HCMUT) and Huynh Vy Ha (faculty of Computer Science’s student at UIT) also shared studying experiences.

The colloquy women with technology is one of the real significant activities of HCMUT and Vietnam Microsoft which helped them be aware of morden women’s important role in New Age, promoting gender equality.

Vietnam Microsoft gave Microsoft YouthSpark scholarships for Computer Science and Information Technology’s poor students in Ha Noi city, HCM city, Can Tho city and Da Nang city with 600 dollars per student per year to encourage student’s intelligent and passion persuing these fields.

In 2016, Microsoft also launched MakeWhatsNext program and electronic information portal to share technology, computer science for women, manuals for lectures…Through personal activities and online resource knowledge, women will have a chance of learning programming knowledge, be inspired from successful stories of the women working on technology field.
