help me~

I am not sure if I am correct to say like this: they are 40-45 years old.

Is that correct? I want to express their are more than 40 but less than 45 years old.......

1) they are 40-45 years old.
2) they are 40s~45s.
3) they are 40s - 45s.

......plz~
