help me

hi...can you help to identify the mistake in the below sentences:

In1960, the Director thought we must all be retiring by the year 2010.

She didn't win anything in the contest; on the other hand, she didn't lose anything.

if possible, please give me the details why...

I have underlined the error in the first sentence. Please try to fix it, and then maybe you will know why: In 1960, the Director thought we must all be retiring by the year 2010. There is nothing grammatically wrong with the 2nd sentence, though it is a sort of word joke.

Hi Mister i am confused with the correct answer now.

as per one of my earlier post few teachers have suggested the correct form of the sentence is

"We would all be retiring" i.e. the MUST is the incorrect one but as per your suggestion its "We must all retried" is the correct one.

can you please help which one is correct.

if the options are as below

You did not underline any parts of the sentence or supply answers in your initial post here, so I had to guess. My opinion is that 'we must all be retired' would also be correct (though I do like 'would all be retiring' better).

Thanks mister for your kind quick reply but again we have to choose one between both as its not a multi choice. so we have to click either B or C.

do you mean it should be B then which is wrong in the sentence?

i have provided a "link" to my post in the question. if you can please click the same or let me know if you still can't access the same.

please confirm.
