I think it makes more sense to say that a statement or a question, rather than just a word, is broad or vague. Let's just consider 'broad' for now.

People are stupid is a broad statement.

Tom is stupid is not a broad statement.

Yet none of the above words are broad by themselves.

there are lots of sites for broad and vague words. it would be better if you type the following in the google search engine : broad words examples then open another browser and type vague words examples. in this way you may be able to compare the differences.
