I don't believe this is an English word. I think it's from the bible in Aramaic. Where did you find this word?

As a totally wild guess, I wonder if it relates to the name '(King) Herod'?)

WOW! I just googled "hirodiya" and I can't even guess what language the things are -- can anyone tell? Here's a sample:

Looks like Turkish to me. If there was a longer sample and there were undotted "i"s then it is definitely Turkish.
