Help + make

I'm very confused by double verbs for 2 sentences below.
Please explain to me.
1. Many people HAVE HELPED MAKE this book possible...
2. Every section has lots of examples and an exercise group TO HELP MAKE SURE that...
It seems double verbs but maybe some kind of hidden pronoun indirect object between of 2? Or second verb became adjective?
