Help!! last chance for poor me

Target language Wrong number

Receptionist

Calling in sick/ Calling in late
Broke down
Open/ Closed/ Hours
Call back 10 minutes.

Assumed knowledge: should know continous present and past tense, vocab like open/closed shouldnt be too hard.

•Anticipated problems: he isnt good at speaking to people he cant see,and he doesnt know standard telephone conversations,so pronunciation could also be a problem in the beginning

•Solutions ,getting him to focus a lot of the lesson around telephone language and letting him use it in a controlled and freer practise

Preparations and aids: id use a written dialogue for controlled practise,so we would read it together,i would also use some prop phones during freer practise

I will be teaching pronunciation through direct repeat and reading,i will do a concept check by him doing the exercise sheet which should be quite quick,he will also practise his pronunciation during reading in the controlled practise. This lesson begins with the presentation of a short clip from any comedy routines involving some one on the telephone for two reasons- first, to make an easy transition from the learner's visual style to one in which they visualize the conversation in an easy-going manner. Second-his speech pattern is crystal clear and the student will build confidence because they will be able to follow more English than they might know they comprehend.During the presentation il go through the new words or phrases that we will be learning. Call back 10 minutes.
Missed call
No signal

(5 mins)

The rest of the lesson involves controlled practice of skills.
I will clarify any words that are unfamiliar and then segue into the vocabulary introduced in this lesson. Teacher says word, student repeats and guesses meaning, teacher clarifies pronunciation/meaning word by word and then student reads and states meaning of whole list.if that doesnt go well we will read a dialogue together, going over the new words.repeating a few times. Freer Practice :
Student and teacher use phones or pantomimes holding phones for following exercise, student begins by placing an imaginary call to teacher, using their name. Teacher works to make this an easy process, not correcting student, imagining the person picks up their own phone. If student is unable to do this, teacher and student change roles so teacher can demonstrate. (10 min)
Teacher introduces the receptionist scenario by describing an office setting.
Teacher provides student with a partially completed script which teacher and student will fill in together using some of the vocabulary words and other obvious niceties. Example:

_____,
May I ______ with________, please? ( Clarify use of Ms./MR. and Mrs)
Who may I say is calling? / What is this in regard to?
My name is____________and I'm a _____________.
I'm sorry, Mr Frank isn't available at this time.
May I leave a message? May I have Mr Frank's email address?
My name is______, my phone number is ______ and my email address is______.
Thank you, Good bye.
(15 min)

Homework assignment is to place a call to teacher that will go to their voice mail so that student can hear the result in following class.dialogue can be used as h/w which he fills in the missing answers

Comment: I am afraid this is still not right. The root of the problem is your target language. Useful telephone phrases are: hold the line, hang up, I'll put you through etc. That's what you need to teach. So list the ones you aim to teach in your target language section, and then say how you teach meaning of them and pronunciation and provide a controlled and a freer activity. Thanks.

Your plan MUST include the following stages

Warmer

Set context

Explain how you teach meaning of the new phrases in your TL section

Drill chorally and individually

Give the written form (they need to see the spelling)

Controlled speaking practice (explain how this practice all the new phrases in a controlled way)

Freer practice (a production exercise: explain how this practice all the new phrases in a freer way)

Controlled written practice for homework

Remember it's highly recommended you finish the 60-hour online course first as that teaches you how to make a PPP plan.

I must now remind you that there are only three goes to any one module so, please read my comments carefully and take your time before you submit for the last time.

OK. So what is the telephone situation? This is role-playing. Here are some possibilities:

1. Suppose the person has to answer the phone in a doctor's office.
2. Suppose the person is the telephone receptionist for a business that sells and repairs cars.

3. Suppose the person is the telephone receptionist for a school or a travel agency.
