Help! Is this grammatically correct?

"Five, six, seven, eight!" As I yell the commands, a large, red dragon begins to march down the aisle, moving with the beat of the drums. The Brooklyn Chinese-American Association always took its Lunar New Year celebrations seriously, and this year's festivities are no exception.
