Someone told me that this coming Friday will be the last day on Earth but I don't believe it. A comet is supposed to hit. I'm skeptical, people have been saying for years that Earth is about to come to an end, but it hasn't ended yet. At least, I don't think it's come to an end. We would know if Earth and all its life forms vanished. At least, I think we would know. Because it's impossible not to notice Earth and all it's different life form's. Therefore, it should follow that it would be impossible not to notice that Earth, along with all its' life forms, had vanished. Just gone up in smoke. Like a mud clod after its kicked. Earth is huge it's much too big to just lose track of. I'm hoping that the prediction is just a mechanical error, an issue of capitalization. My theory is that the editor's from the Times was sitting around the office, as editors from the Times often do, when something came over the wire. A warning from scientists that a comet was headed toward the earth with a lower-case "e," meaning toward the ground and dirt. If the scientists were referring to Earth as a planet, they would need to use an upper-case "E." Since the scientists predicted that the comet would destroy the earth, with a lower-case "e," the scientists' technically had claimed the comet would destroy the dirt. Meaning this dirt would be hit by the comet with such force that the pressure and heat would just cream it. After the wire came through, the editor's sat around discussing whether they should keep the "e" lower-case or contact the men at the observatory to verify their meaning. It was finally decided by the editor's at the Times that it would make a much better story if they just assumed the "E" should be upper-case and wrote that we was all going to die. Also, the science reporter don't like to have to leave his chair just to make a phone call just to verify some story, it's too much trouble. He was enjoying conversing with the staff, and he didn't want to get up. It was an interesting conversation. If I thought that the Earth, as opposed to the earth, was coming to an end, I don't know what I'd do. However, I know for certain that I would be troubled, for I like the Earth.
