Help - he was or him?

Hi,

Which is the grammatically correct sentence?

1. Inevitably, I chose women who were mean like her.

2. Inevitably, I chose women who were mean like she was.

Please include an explanation if possible.

2. Inevitably, I chose women who were mean like she was.
Both are correct. You can use "like" as a preposition or as a conjunction. The first is more idiomatic to my ear.
