Help editing Phd motivation letter

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am not a native speaker of English. I have tried my best to write a motivation letter for a phd application but I feel I missed something, I would be very grateful if you could give me some corrections, be it spelling correction, grammat correction or better sentence construction to convey the same message.

Here is the letter.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for the Phd position in GPU computing, reference number xxx. I completed a Bsc. Study in Computer Science and Information Technology at xxx University, xxx country, in july 2007. After I finished the Bsc study, I joined xxx company as a junior programmer in National Network Operation Center where I was assigned in a monitoring team to administer the various network's well-beingness. This encounter in the telecommunication sector gave me a deep understanding of telecommunication network infrastructure.

I am currently on the third semester of an Msc study in Computer Science and Networking at the University of xxx. Partly, this program focuses on network technology, and the other part focuses on Parallel and Distributed Computing. The detailed and in depth studies of distributed systems and the challenges encountered to realize such systems motivated me to further study, analyze and design high performing distributed systems. My studies on those areas equipped me with the required tools to study a given sequential computation, to identify parallelism exploitation patterns, to evaluate the performance of all the equivalent parallel computation and come up with a parallel computation with performance close to the ideal performance that would be achieved on the target architecture.

Parallel computing in a GPU platform, being fairly recent and totally a new architecture, has its own challenges. One of my interests in such platform is to derive a performance model for a data parallel computation to partition the data in such away that part of the computation is performed on the GPU cores while the other part being executed on the CPU cores. Besides, I can imagine how challenging it is to come up with a parallel program with low power consumption without jeopardizing the performance of the program that otherwise would be achieved hadn't we introduced power consumption optimization mechanisms. I am aware of the kind of dedication and perseverance I will need to have for achieving the best results in th program. I strongly believe my educational background and dedication to learn new things would enable me to make a strong contribution at the the University and make me a very good candidate of the program.
