help doing/ help do?

Hi, teachers

Here is part of news:

Insurgent fuel smuggling operation robs from Iraq's economy and helps finance insurgency.

Should it be " helps financing " ? Which way is native? help to finance , help finance, help financing?

Thanks

Sarah, The "helps finance insurgency" part is fine. The word 'from' is not needed following robs. You might substitute another word for the "insurgent" that begins the sentence.

1. Insurgent fuel smuggling operation robs from Iraq's economy and helps finance insurgency.

— "robs from" sounds non-standard here. Perhaps "...threatens Iraq's economy..." or "...harms Iraq's economy..." would be better.

2. Should it be " helps financing " ? Which way is native? help to finance , help finance, help financing?
