Help! Dialogues! (3/50)

1

A:What are those big boxes? Christmas gifts for your girlfriend?

B:No, they are for my folks.

2

A:Why don’t you go home? It’s getting dark.

B:Nothing. It’s just I had a major fight with my folks yesterday. I don’t want to face them now. I’ll sneak in home after they go to bed.

A:Don’t be silly. They’ll worry about where you are. You need to talk to them.

3

A:Enjoy yourselves, boys and girls! The dessert is on the house!

B+C+D:Great!

4

A:The place is great! Clean and nice.

B:And try the food!

A:Yes, they had a homemade flavor. They remind me of the food cooked by my mother.

B:And if you order food more than 25 dollars from 11:00 to 13:00, you can have drinks for two persons on the house. (I think “free drinks” is better, but I wonder if “have drinks on the house” also can do here.)

Hi, would you please help me with the dialogues above and check:

1. Are the expressions in bold type in active use by native speakers today?

2. Do the dialogues sound natural and like real English?

3. Do the situations created in the dialogues make sense to you?

Thank you very much!
