Dear Sir or Madam:
I am a goal-oriented student with true passion for learning, and I would love to bring my experience and enthusiasm to your world-class university. I have always been keen on crafts. In 2013, I started teaching myself to do paper quilling. Shortly after, I make them for commissions and to my surprise, turned into quite a hit. Kaskus.com, which is the largest community website in Indonesia, contacted me and asked me to be covered on their homepage. Until now, I still do it and have some followings on Instagram where I post my recent works.
I am currently a third-year student at XXX University, majoring in Business. One of the most notable experiences that I had during my study was when I participated in XXX Summer Program from July to August 2017. It was a cooperative program between my university and XXX University. There, we were tasked to partner with local businesses and propose some changes to their supply chain management to elevate their business value. My team and I partnered up with Sabila Farm, a family-owned farm business whose main produce was dragonfruit. Right off the bat, I knew it was going to be the toughest assignment I have yet to do. However, I saw this as an opportunity to force myself to grow and apply the theories I had learned. Initially, we stumbled a great deal of problems, but after a series of efforts, we were finally able to present a work that we were proud of. We designed an innovative yet easy-to-operate program to help the farm to collect their production data and forecast future crops. Moreover, we also came up with a new harvesting container design. In the end, we got an outstanding feedback from both the owner and also Prof. XXX who was the grader for this final project.
Spending a semester abroad adds a great value to an individual and it is something I’ve always planned to do. An academic exchange would give me a chance to immerse myself in the culture of Japan, learn the historical values and see the wonders of Japanese technology with my own eyes. As an art enthusiast, I also wish to volunteer at local art clubs and festivals. Furthermore, I intend to further improve all aspects of my Japanese language skills, see traditional paintings, and learn calligraphy. In addition, I strongly believe that positive cultural exchange further cultivates positive cooperation; something priceless in the world full of issues.
The reason why I picked XXX University is because it is the most prestigious university in Japan. I plan to take several other courses from Faculty of Letters and Faculty of Education during my study there. I am very intrigued by Heresy and Dissent in Late Antiquity, Japanese Culture, and Analysis of Japanese Education. I think those three courses would be really interesting and would really help me in understanding more about Japan and their education system, and it’s something that I would never be able to study otherwise. In that regard, I would be fully utilizing my opportunity of studying in XXX University.
I hope that you will acknowledge my interests and will give me a chance to study in your university.
Best Regards,
Dzaky Dirantona
