Do you think the way they give answers is not good? Because we can say

Nowadays children would prefer history to be taught in more practical ways.(preference)
Nowadays children would prefer history be taught in more practical ways. ( strong demand)

Hi CalifJim,
I am confused about what you said.

In another post you say present subjunctive is ok after WOULD PREFER.So why can't I say:

"Nowadays children would prefer history be taught in more practical ways "instead of "Nowadays children would prefer history to be taught in more practical ways"
