Test in the snow: features of Yakutian horseracing

Staginess, movement, magnetic grace of horses always attract people on the racetrack. All winter long Yakutian horse racing fans have been waiting a long-awaited moment - the opening of the new season. This has already created heated discussions and debates about the events of the past year and the upcoming horse races in Yakutia.
This year, the first test of racehorses was held ahead of a schedule: on frosty March 21 Yakutian horses and improved thoroughbred racehorses were taken to the racetrack. This event was held on the ‘Kwon Khara’ racetrack that is located in the Maya village, Megino-Kangalassky District.
‘Racehorses always open a horseracing season,’ - said the first match Chief Referee Alexander Kapitonov. - ‘Our harsh climatic conditions are customary to them, they feel good and it is shown in the way they frolic’.
For such moments, despite on the cold, two or three thousands racing fans are ready to spend a lot of time to see the show. They consider horseracing as a three-hour spectacular and elegant action, where the main actors are horses and jockeys.
One of the features of the races is a horse testing on a snowy track. By the way, there are a few such tracks in all over the world. Our nature allows us to create such tracks. We know that in Switzerland, in the town of Arosa, annual horse races are held on the snow, and the Swiss are very proud of it. Therefore, we should make such competition traditional, especially since our harsh climate make this possible. In addition, racing in the village Syyrdaakh in Ust-Aldansky district is held on the ice of a lake and it is unique not only in Yakutia, but also in the whole country, and maybe even in the world.
As expected, during every race favorite heroes of a race always appear. This spring new crowd’s favorites has appeared - Kustuk, Kynat, Oyor Khara.
However, when it’s warmer more thoroughbreds will come on the field. The first start is scheduled for the Victory Day - May 9.
On this day horseracing fans will see horses derived from pedigreed stallions - Salto, Havenly Steed, Russian Day and also Kommentanta - the last year's winner of the President’s of the Sakha (Yakutia) Cup. The Royal Ascot is a symbol of eternal traditions and the main social event of a year for the British society. In Yakutia the competition for the prize of the Head of the Sakha Republic on the Day of Tuymaada’s Ysyakh is one of the most anticipated events for all people in the Republic.
