Help! 250 words written argument!

Can somebody please help me with my essay below? See if there's any problems or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

The direction given is:

Present a written argument or case to an educated reader with no specialist nkowledge of the following topic.

In some societies, stress is now regarded as a major problem, and it is thought that people suffer from more stress than they did in the past.

However, others feel that the amount of stress people have today is exaggerated. They say that previous generations were under more pressure, but the idea of suffering form stress did not exist.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinions.

Below is what I wrote:

The idea of stress is becoming a common and major problem in many societies today. Many people believe that people today suffer more stress than people in the past, while some of the others believe that the amount of stress is exaggerated and that people in the past do not have the idea of suffering from stress. Both sides have its points and arguments that should be observed carefully.

Ironically, people that suffer the most from stress today are usually rich people or people with high power, authority, or position. These people would normally be thought to have the most perfect live, but in reality, one of the worst. People with a lot of wealth today are often being compared others who are as rich as they are. The need to be richer in order to satisfy their ego has been a main source of their stress. Others with high power, authority, or position suffer stress from pressure and also comparison. What seems impossible 100 years ago is all possible now with the help of technology. A manager in United States can be easily compared with a manager in China.


People in the past are not capable of comparing to somebody half way across the globe or knowing what happened to a country 1,000 miles away from them. People who are born into a village often stayed in that village for their whole life. Self-sufficiency has always been their mentality and with the lack of technology, they are capable to live without stress. There will also be people in the past who suffers a great deal of stress. But the percentage of those people who suffered stress compared to people today is tremendously lower. With comparisons from these factors, people today seem to suffer more stress compared to those in the past.
