CalifJimanonymousThank you. Can I add and he did or but he didn’t at the end of the following sentences?
a: I would’ve thought he would’ve let you know about it.
b: I knew he would’ve let you know.
c: I would’ve thought he would let you know about it.a. yes
b. no; only and he did
c. yesI don't know why you've put 'thought' in italics, so I'm ignoring it.
anonymousMy second question isthatwhether I can think of using ‘but he didn’t’ at the end of the sentences but I can’t think of using ‘and he did’ at the end of sentences. Would you please give me one example where you can use ‘and he did’ at the end of a sentence, especially a sentence with ‘would’ve’?Well, first of all, there's example b above. Also,
I thought she would have come up with another solution (and she did).
I thought he would have been a pretty good guy for the group (and he was).
I thought he would give it to me, and I was not disappointed.
In the last example, the and he did is made explicit in the second clause. That one has 'would', not 'would have'. I wasn't sure if you wanted examples of just one or the other, so I included both.
Maybe you can't think of situations like this because they are in the minority. Most of them make sense only with 'but he didn't' even when 'and he did' is also theoretically possible.

Thank you so much, CJ. I truly believe that I have learned more English here than in my high school and in my current college, and mostly from you. I do have two more sentences to get checked out so that I have no confusion over these sentence structures once and for all.
A: You would think he would visit his parents once in a while.
B: You would think he would’ve have helped me yesterday with the assignment.
Is it possible to add ‘and he did’ at the end of the sentences above? Thank you.
For some reason your two most recent posts came out double so I deleted the extras. anonymous A: You would think he would visit his parents once in a while. B: You would think he would’ve have helped me yesterday with the assignment.
