If we can say,'I am going tell a friend of yours.', why can't we say,'I am going to take a picture of yours.'?

You can! It would mean I am going to take a picture that belongs to you. (I really like that picture you have on the wall there. I'm going to take it home with me!)
If you want to say that you are going to get out the camera and take a picture you would use I am going to take a picture of you.
