Hi guys, I am a native English speaker. I am giving a test in which I am using American English, which I am not used to as I am from UK. I have always struggled with grammar, so I was wondering if I could have some help getting pointers on a paragraph I have written.
The question I used was how many days does it take for a turkey egg to hatch?
This is my answer:
A turkey egg takes between 25 and 31 days once they are laid. On average each female turkey lays between 4 and 17 eggs annually. Turkeys are mature enough to reproduce within their first year of life.
Additional information:
Typically, male turkeys do not reproduce in their first year of life as they have to compete with older males. Males also play no role in caring for the egg or chicks. This role lies firmly with the female turkeys. Once the eggs have hatched, the female turkeys take care of the chicks for 20 days. Turkey chicks are born with a lot of highly developed innate abilities that allow them to feed and walk within 24 hours of being born
