The book Eleanor Roosevelt “A Personal and Public Life” had many strengths and weaknesses. The strengths of the book made the book clearer, easy to understand, and a delight to read. However, the weaknesses, took away from the book. First, the book is easy to understand, and can be understood by virtually anyone. This book was not hard to understand, the author simply just told the story of Eleanor Roosevelt’s life. The author presentation and writing style was great, and it enhanced my understanding of the book. Next, the author did not was not bias. The author simply just told the life of Eleanor Roosevelt. He told her life story both the good side and the bad. The author simply gave us a balance look at her life. The author used many different sources for the book, and did not use the Eleanor’s oral account. He had many different people oral account of Eleanor’s life, which helped me get a feel of what people thought of Eleanor. I would definitely read more books by Youngs, if it was written in the same style as this one.

I believe that the major weakness of this book was that it was too short. The book was very short and it could have given more details about her life. The book was great but it would have been better it would had more details. For instance, what happen did Eleanor do when she found out that had cheated on her again? What happen to Lucy Mercer? These were just a couple of explain that the book did not go into details about. Also, the illustrations that were in the book really made the book more confusing and hard to understand. The major weaknesses of the book were that it was not long enough and it could have told us more about Eleanor Roosevelt life.

In conclusion, I think that Eleanor Roosevelt was a great woman. She did many things to help women and minorities. Eleanor was a smart and intelligent woman who just wanted a peaceful world for all of us. People admired Eleanor simply because she cared about people. It did not matter if you were rich or poor, she would show you respect, and I admire her for that. Eleanor had a tough childhood, but she overcame it and became an American hero. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about the life of Eleanor Roosevelt. This book has a historical value, because it tells us about the life of one of the greatest ladies of all time.
