Grammar

Hello Would NAtive please help with HARD sentences?

Could you please help me correct these sentences please? I've given my thoughts in red.

1 Turn the phone's brightness (setting) to a minimum. (I don't know if it's something a native would say)

2 It's important that/to I get the grammar right especially since/when I'm writing a book book. THAT and SINCE. I think sentence structure is OK

3 How come it cost so little/so cheap? SO LITTLE maybe, but not SO CHEAP

4 If someone other than yourself can sing your song better than yourself, you're not a good singer. OK

5 Even though/if I don't work as many hours compared to some, A 35 hour week seems like a lot for me.
6 In every hotel I've worked at, we've had to do that. NOT SURE HERE

7 The further into the night we go, the fuzzier everything seems. I remember everything up until 10pm and after that it gets fuzzy. (telling a friend about last night) I have no clue if this is natural?

8 You have 2 times as much chance of crashing if you take 2 planes as if you take one. WRONG, but I don't know where to start.

Thank you

1) Turn the phone's brightness to the minimum. or: Turn the phone's brightness setting to the minimum. or: Set the phone's brightness to the minimum.

  • 1) Turn the phone's brightness to the minimum.
  • or: Turn the phone's brightness setting to the minimum.
  • or: Set the phone's brightness to the minimum.
  • Minimum means the absolute lowest it can be, so since there can only be one 'minimum' setting, we refer to that setting as 'the minimum'.
  • If you were to say 'a minimum' in the sentences above it would mean that maybe there was more than one minimum setting, which isn't true here.
