Hello, take a look pls..

a response to "A Thousand Splendid Suns" By Khaled Hosseini. Please check my grammar.

In a story “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini, Jalil is an irresponsible father. He has betrayed Nana and now he is trying to manipulate naïve Mariam into thinking he is a good father. He does not have courage to admit his mistake. His cowardice destroys two women’s lives. On the other hand, Nana is a weak woman. She is not daring to stand up for herself and for her daughter’s sake. Instead she chooses the easiest way to punish Mariam; she spitefully suicides. In the story, Mariam is the one who suffers the most. From the day she is born, her father’s family prejudices against her. Society looks down upon her. She has to live with her father’s lies and hateful complaints of her mother. Furthermore, she is forced to marry Rasheed, who is as old as her father. In “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, there is no splendid suns for Mariam. There are only misfortunes in her life. This story is revealing to us an outdated society which should not have existed in this modern world. They treat women unfairly and they distinct social class clearly.

In the story, Hosseini ridicules people who think they are above other people. For example, Rasheed listens to radio about politics, but he does not know what communism is. Furthermore, he is simple-minded to a degree that he is having sex because the Prophet and his wives did it. Rasheed does not think for himself. He is easily manipulated. Yet he mocks a teacher, who is a well educated man, for giving his wife freedom. In the story, men treat women like dirt under the guise of protecting and honoring them. Women are not allowed to think for themselves. They are forced to marry as young as 10 years old to old men. In addition, they are forced to wear burqu, a head-to-toe robe, in the public and they are not allowed to show their bare feet. Not only this society leaves its reader a deep pitiful impression, but also it is leaving us an agony feeling for the women.

In “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, women are portrayed as servants for men. The freedom they have is whatever their fathers or husbands grant to them. This society should not still existed today. Everyone in this world, including women, should have the right to think freely. We should have the courage to admit our mistakes and brave enough to face our hardships. It is our duty to resist whoever trying to rob our freedom.
