Topic: Nowadays, many animal species are becoming extinct. Some people believe that countries and individuals must solve this problem, others believe that humans beings are more important. Discuss both views and give your
own opinion.

My essay:

It is true that a number of animal species are on the brink of extinction. While some people consider that this is not an urgent matter, I would argue that this, in fact, needs to be high on governments' and individuals’ agendas.

On the one hand, I could understand why a large portion of people ignores this issue. First, the majority of the population is living in cities or areas that separate from wild habitats, leading to a lack of interaction between humans and wild species. Therefore, it would be understandable why many people do not feel the need to protect and preserve other species. Second, humans tend to think that we are superior to animals and animals should be the ones who serve humans, not the other way around.

On the other hand, I strongly support the idea that steps should be taken to tackle the extinction of animals. One obvious reason is that we are living in an ecosystem where every entity, every factor connects with each other, either directly or through several stages. A disappearing of a species will eventually affect human lives. Thus, protecting animals is actually an action of our own interest. Another reason is that preserving animals is virtues of appreciation of our planet, broader speaking, it shows humans’ gratitude towards nature.

In conclusion, I believe that governments, international bodies, and individuals must work together to protect animal species from disappearing forever. If we do not learn how to live in harmony, there will be nothing left to cling on.
