Essay & Composition Writing

Hello. Please help me with this topic.

In the future all cars, buses and trucks will be driverless. The only people traveling inside these vehicles will be passengers.

Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?

It is possible that in the future, we do not need to drive anymore since all vehicles will be driverless. From my perspective, traveling in driverless transportation does more good than harm to people.

On the one hand, it is undeniably true that using driverless vehicles can be risky. Some machine or engine inside the car or bus may not work properly or be broken and if passengers are not informed of these malfunctions, using these vehicles can be hazardous and people may have accidents on the road. Besides, despite current developments in the manufacture of driverless vehicles, these automatons may fail to handle unexpected situations on the road. In some urgent cases, only human drivers, with experience and cognitive ability, can decide what to do.

However, the aforementioned disadvantages of driverless vehicles rarely happen and therefore cannot outweigh the advantages. First, when people do not have to drive, they can use traveling time for other activities such as reading books, watching movies, or playing games with friends. Moreover, people who are not in a position to drive can still get to places they want by driverless car. In case we are drunk, tired, or simply do not know how to control a vehicle, driverless means of transport can be of great help as they can take us to the scheduled destinations safely.

In conclusion, although driverless vehicles can malfunction or badly handle unwanted situations on the road, they allow passengers more time to do other things when traveling and take us to our destinations safely. Driverless transport is, as a result, beneficial rather than disadvantageous.
