Hello. Please give me some feedback on my essay.

In the future, nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Printed newspapers and books are no longer the only source of information since the advent of online materials where people can easily access knowledge and global news. Some people believe that traditional papers will no longer be purchased as we can read online news free of charge, but I disagree with this view.

On the one hand, we cannot deny the growing prevalence of digital newspapers and books as they are free and highly accessible. Unlike printed materials for which we have to pay to own and read, online news is completely free on many websites or charged very little on mainstream sources like The New York Times and Washington Post. Moreover, people can get updated on the latest news with basic technological devices such as cellphones and laptops as long as they are in a wireless hotspot. Reading books or news on the Internet does not require visits to newsstands or bookshops, thereby being highly accessible to everyone.

On the other hand, many people will still buy printed newspapers because of the benefits it offers. First, for the older generation, traditional papers can be a better choice as the elderly tend to find technology or the Internet hard to use and therefore cannot access online news. Besides, paper materials will still be popular with people who have eye issues. Reading digital news for too long can put strain on people’s eyes. Thus, if we are near-sighted, oversensitive to screen light, or have poor vision because of old age, we may want to pick a more healthy option which is conventional newspapers and books.

In conclusion, despite the predominance of digital newspapers and books, I strongly believe traditional materials will still be purchased as they are more suitable for the elderly and people with eye problems.
