Hello! Need you help! I have translated the sentense, but can`t figure out if it sounds good...and have problem with this a /the.) Thank you!

She always assisted
 the veterinarian doctor with enthusiasm during an examination of the animal in
the clinic or on an emergency calls, as well as during an operation.
