For a tool, interactive technology has tremendous potential to further museums’ educational mission. The challenge, moreover, is to create media that is usable and provides a valuable experience that contributes to the overall educational experience in visiting the museum. Interactive technology in museums has largely limited to informational kiosks with visitors use touch screens or mice. While visitors are provided with access a variety of artifacts and information, there is no story to engage them and no emotional experience to connect the subject matter to lives. Without new technology, it is now possible to create interactive environments that respond to visitor input, as movement and speech, and then respond in real time with imagery, audio and even intelligent virtual characters. This experiences allow visitors navigate an environment, ask questions, solve problems, collaborate between others and complete tasks. However, creating technology-based interactive experiences is not as easy as they seems. They are costly, highly technical and presenting a variety of design, development and evaluation issues. It is also the constant challenge to create environments that facilitate learning rather than simply entertaining. After all, interactivity is only a means to an end. If an exhibit is interactive is unimportant. Interactive media will not be the best choice for what the exhibit is trying to achieve. More important, it is essential to determine how the interaction provides a quality experience, and how the goal of the exhibit advanced the interactivity. All interaction begins with an invitation to participate. Likely, all conversations begin in a similar way as a greeting and an exchange of pleasantries as an invitation to discuss something. The invitation could be solve a problem, answer a question, explore an environment, create something or share opinion. Apart from an invitation to explore and to interactive, feedback is also crucial. For any two-ways communication to be successful, the user needs immediate and appropriate feedback. In more trial-and-error learning tasks commonly found in museums, feedback tells visitors about they have completed the task successfully and if they have interpreted something wrongly. Without feedback, there cannot be any true interaction and a meaningful learning experience can never created.
