Hello, i'm confused with this sentence...

I come to this sentence, but i am confused with the time duration:

"Pencillin G, administered as 50,000 units/kg/dose IV every 12 hours during the first 7 days of life and every 8 hours thereafter for a total of 10 days"

Does that mean the medicine is administered every 12 hours during te first 7 days of life, and then switched to every 8 hours for an additional 3 days?
