In many places, new homes are needed, but the only space available for building them is in the countryside. Some people believe it is more important to protect the countryside and not build new homes there.

What is your opinion about this?

In many opinions, it is believed that to build new houses for citizens, countryside is the only available place. On the other hand, there is disagreement saying that instead of destroying the rural area with buildings, we need to protect it. In my point of view, not only the government but also residents have to look after these areas.

First of all, countryside places an important part in producing crops and supporting our food chain. Farmers take advantages from empty lands for growing products and breeding cattle. If houses and facilities are built on these lands, it will cause difficulties for farmers to continue their jobs. Such as loosing food support from grasslands, cattle like cows or goats are unable to contain enough nutrition for proving milk or quality meat. Moreover, there are an increasing numbers in nationals, so crops are in need with large amount every day. Without space for producing fruits and vegetables, the food chain may have to suffer the lack of products.

Secondly, rural areas are one of the most favorite landscapes to visit on holiday. Even though there are no convenience facilities like in the cities, but with fresh air and beautiful scenery, these areas can become a destination for busy citizens to relax. For instance, my grandmother house is located in a rural area that is two hours apart from the city. In special occasions, my family would pack things up and go to visit my grandmother. We enjoy the beautiful fields with fresh air that only appear in the urban. Even just a walk along the lake or sitting down on the meadows and looking at the cattle would bring up a comfortable and relax. Furthermore, several families bring their children to visit the animals that these kids have never seen or tasting fresh fruits that is just harvested as weekend activities.

In conclusion, I understand the essential of building more homes for people, but it is also important to protect the beauty of countryside too. There are numerous activities and benefits from urban for our daily life, which is unacceptable and hurtful to destroy it.
