1. What is an issue related to digital technology or city planning in your country? Describe the area of your interest and explain if you have taken the lead in resolving such an issue.

There are about 10 cities in Vietnam that have officially signed Smart City construction cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign partners. Due to the different socio-economic characteristics and consulting firms of different cities, each city has a different Smart City strategy.

However, these Vietnamese cities have many things in common regarding public infrastructure, in particular their priorities in the areas of transport, health, education, food safety, environment, energy, and rules for building construction. Many of these areas will definitely benefit from a "Smart City" approach.

The impact of the Smart City philosophy is very wide in many fields and affects the whole community, so often cities start with pilot programs or adapt the existing infrastructure according to a cost/benefit analysis.

For example, technical infrastructure has not developed with the pace of urbanization, low productivity, economic potential is still weak compared to the region,... There are also some other reasons such as unclear concepts, criteria for building smart cities, no experience in implementation, no research projects to support and guide at the national level.

My interest is smart mobility which integrates all modes of transportation via wireless communications and applies real-time data analytics and machine learning to make transportation safer and more efficient. I am using ridesharing apps on my phone to move quicker and reduce the traffic jam in peak time every day.

3. What project related to digital technologies would you do to help improve your communities in the following area? *

• Increase public discourse about governance and transparency, the economy, and equitable and sustainable development

The Smart City model applies all the modern technology to improve the quality of the city and alongside is to reduce energy consumption and use resources in a sustainable way.

I want to build an online residential community for modern citizens. A place where all residents can come to read information and discuss matters of interest related to smart city topics.

Firstly, phase 1, I will build a website with the domain name: smartcityvietnam.vn, in the home page with a tab menu including: news, forums, latest, members, etc….Then I start media planning, estimate timeline for promoting, calculating budget and setting goals of the project.

This project will be deployed on social media platforms like Facebook, Zalo, Youtube, Google which young people usually active on by using paid media format to acquire a number of users jointly forum and become members.

Secondly, I will review and analyze phase 1 after launching the platform in reality. I will build a team and brainstorm what I will do next. It might be something like content on the website, reaching and interacting with the audience, organizing virtual events,...etc with long term goals. This needs a period of time and effort to see the results.

When I think out this idea, I hope every person living in Hanoi will be provided full knowledge about smart cities, what is this, how our government applies it in our lives. It is needed for smart residents in the future.
