PERSONAL STATEMENT
Sometimes one comes across an event which tends to produce an ineffable effect on one's future. Recently I have had such. Being always fascinated by taking trips as the best way to spend my vacations, I devoted summer 2010 to exploring new places of my native country. I travelled from Central Ukraine to the west of it, and then-to the Crimean Peninsula, which is in the south of the country. The true delight I received could not compete with the chagrin from realizing the fact that the level of tourism infrastructure development and the range of available services remains really low compared with the world tourism centers. This experience has had a catalytic effect on me and my enthusiasm for contributing into the international tourism development in Ukraine is ever growing.
Today tourism development is recognized by the Ukrainian government as one of its top priorities for the Ukrainian economy. Previously, while being a part of USSR, tourism was not even a branch of state economy, remaining just a neglected part of the "sphere of services". Nowadays tourism industry has confidently entered the world's tourist market and is now recognized as an important economic factor. Anyone can see the potential of today's tourism domain, but not everyone has the potential to make it happen. It can well be said that the future of its increasingly international economy depends crucially on the steady supply of highly skilled, responsible and ambitious professionals at the highest level of International Tourism Management, capable of leading organizations in today's competitive and dynamic global business environment.
Planning to be at the forefront of modern international tourism development has pushed me to seek international experience as an indispensable part of my career development, outstanding opportunities for personal and professional growth in an environment that is built on open communication, respect and teamwork. Aiming to enter Master's program in International Tourism at the ____ University, I vehemently seek to undertake the stated master's course with a belief that it is the ideal program for me. And that once finished I can contribute to developing new tourist paths the mundane way of my life. I believe that only plugging myself into this highly competitive environment will be possible for me to bring my potential into the fullest play and to further develop my courage to face challenges and enhance my endurance. To my mind, getting an excellent education is not only the right, but also a passport to a better future, as excellence and learning are indispensable to each other. That contributes to my desire to make my next step in personal and professional development through gaining experience abroad.

My management degree has given me a strong foundation for my analytical skills since management disciplines involve examples of various global companies and they also illustrate how managers apply the best techniques in the real-world situations. Case studies based on real-world organizations have helped me synthesize concepts and apply this new knowledge to concrete problems and scenarios. This provided additional opportunities for developing my diagnostic, team-building, investigative, problem solving and Internet-search skills. My most substantial accomplishment has been the successful completion of on-line courses with the University of Illinois Extension, USA. These courses have allowed me to understand the value of a good organizational structure and appreciate a system that works well. The demand of these courses has taught me to plan well, work systematically and keep my reports up-to-date.
I will have completed five years of education at Poltava University of Economics and Trade (in the Bologna system) by June 2011. I believe that my unique blend of experiences has made me a woman with an original point of view. This blend has given me a broader perspective and a good understanding of life and what goals to aim for. Among other things, I am prepared to contribute to an ongoing discussion on international management issues and have a diversity of experience to offer the _____University.
I am impressed with the emphasis placed on international tourism development, as well as the security studies that are complemented by a multi-disciplinary approach to learning and link of the theoretical knowledge to the world of business and the challenges it faces. The faculty's reputation for excellent teaching, challenging coursework and the excellent facilities are added attractions. The more I studied, the better I understood that my main interest is tourism as an essential economic reality worldwide. The international aspect of ___ University with the Master programme in International Tourism is one that I personally value greatly. Obtaining admission to the program in International Tourism will provide me with the perfect opportunity to convert passion into profession. It will provide me with the incentive, experience and proficiency to develop myself into a successful proponent of a sphere which has abundant potential. It may generate significant funds for the national budget, contribute to the development of related industries, small and medium-sized businesses, and create jobs. The World Tourism Organization has placed Ukraine in the top 25 most visited countries in the world. Along with this placement, however, Ukraine must work more to gain membership into the European Union. This way, Ukraine can play a greater role in this region when it achieves European freedoms and democracy. To fulfill this, Ukraine requires a new generation of professionals with leadership, decision making and opinion forming skills that can be developed in a truly international environment that is offered by the ___ University.
Upon earning my master's degree in International Tourism I wish to combine all the acquired knowledge and developed skills with previously built foundation in management to equip myself with the powerful tool for redesigning and expanding the network of hotels and supporting services in the Western Ukraine, particularly in the town of Kamianets-Podilskyi. This ancient town, which is included in UNESCO world heritage list, has always been one of the most appealing to foreigners and still has its potential remaining undisclosed.
The Swiss Government Scholarship would provide me with the chance to study and fulfill a dream, in process presenting me an outstanding opportunity of being a part of vibrant culture during a period of study in this wonderfully complex country.
