I've just finished writting my letter for studying abroad, after reading some threads in this forum, i decided to sign up with hope that somebody will check it. Thanks in advance. So there it is :
Dear Madam or Sir My name is XXX and currently, I am studing Linguistics in my second year at the University XXX. During my studies at Linguistic high school, I began to develop a strong interest in the fields of literature, foreign languages and distinct culture. I am writing this letter to apply for admission for the Study Abroad program.During my elementary and highschool education I finished numerous English and Italian courses. I consider my Italian and English skills to be very high and myself able to take studies in these languages. Despite the education at the university I attend, I realize that the study of a foreign language abroad is essentially different. I consider the social and cultural aspects to be an inseparable part of a language and the hands-on experience is the best way to gain a good knowledge of them. I also think about possibilities of my future job. I would really like to acquire more theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of English or Italian Linguistics. I have discovered a passion for languages; I enjoyed my Italian and English classes, in particular my Linguistics classes, and even though they were very general I found those topics relating to human languages extremely exciting. For instance, I recall the moment I realised that the study of Linguistics goes beyond understanding the structure of language; I came to realise that this would help to understand how the unconscious knowledge that humans have about language(s) works, and how languages differ from each other. There are several reasons for this desire to study abroad. Having the chance of studying abroad have always been the most ambition in my life since young. I like to face the challenges of living in a foreign country and to gain cross-cultural competence. I think that continuing my study abroad will help me learn how to adapt to a foreign culture, mentality and way of life which in my opinion are very important for broadening one's horizon. It would give me an unique experience to live in another environment and to gain more independence. Experience and knowledge acquired at a foreign university would prove to be very helpful in finding a job upon returning to my country. I think Graduating abroad can change my life and can help me to make succesful future because I will learn much things which I haven‘t learned in my actually school. I am very grateful for considering my application and I look forward to a favourable reply.
Sincerely Yours,
