Heir and inheritor

Hey all,
I have looked up in dictionaries but I couldn't understand, whether their difference.
Plese help.

Hi, There's really no difference, but in legal matters 'heir' is much more common. Vey generally speaking, 'inheritor' to me is used more for things that are not "financial'. eg he was the inheritor of his father's smile.
