The following is based on US usage. I'm a native English speaker in the US, and this was difficult for me. I can't answer 6 and 8 as they are given. If there is a period after the word "smiles," then 6 could be "When." I can't answer 8. The line might be misprinted.

I don't think that any of these answers are specific to a particular regional variety of English. Personally, I do not think it is necessary to mention "US usage" unless it is known or suspected that there is a difference.

As far as (8) is concerned, I imagine that "have" should read "had".
