Speech & Pronunciation

hectare

Hi,

Most of the dictionaries I consulted (both online and printed) give three different pronunciation patterns for this word.

What pronunciation is common in AmEng?

Thanks you!

mus-te

None is common in AmE because Americans deal in acres, not hectares. I doubt if I have ever actually said the word, though I have read it often enough. Without consulting a dictionary, I think I would say / 'hek teir /.
