Heavy Traffic in Heavy Rain

Sorry, I made the same post before under "anonymous" because I forgot to log in. So I think I'll repost again...

I want to say that the traffic is very heavy because the rain is pouring down. My friend said she believed there's a phrase "jam in the rain", which means exactly what I want to say. Is there really such a phrase? We're both not very sure...

Thanks!

I've heard about "traffic jam in the rain" (sounds normal, obviously) and "a jam in the rain" sounds like a perfectly natural contracted form for it.

Hi - when you forget to sign in, please just let it go and be "anonymous" for that one. Otherwise, we end up with two threads with two different sets of people answering you. I agree with Nona that "jam in the rain" doesn't sound very natural to me.

I encourage others who want to participate in this topic to use the one started by you as "Anonymous" and add on to Nona's comments.
