Heat exchange tubes are used for transferring heat from the hot pressurized coolant in the tube to the water outside.

Is the above correct?
Thanks.

May I ask why "in the tube" and not "in the tubeS"?

I don't know. I just checked the grammar. I don't know anything about the technology you're referring to. I thought it could be some other tube.

I thought it was fine and unambiguous, and was surprised to hear you ask. You used plural tubes to describe the aparatus and a singular tube to describe the concept. I think that's a normal way to approach it. It would also be okay to stick with plural, but I think the switch is natural. - A.

Plural vs Singular has always been my biggest headache. I think I know what you're saying. Thanks, Avangi.

I agree with Avangi. The switch from plural to singular actually escaped my notice. It seemed fine. I don't see any need to rephrase (except as suggested earlier).
