Hear the sound of truck, or hear the truck?

Hi,

Can you tell me which of the followings are more natural?

1) hear the sound of the truck coming; hear the truck coming/come

2) hear the bark of a dog; hear a dog

3) hear the ring of the cellphone; hear the cellphone

4) hear the bleat of the sheep; hear the sheep

Thanks in advance.

Hi 1)hear the sound of the truck approaching (sounds slightly better) 2)hear the bark of a dog 3) hear the ring of the cellphone 4) hear the bleat of the sheep And, if you are talking about sheep, truck, cellphone in general, I would suggest using 'a' instead of 'the'. Prajwal

Thank you.

So the latter phrases of each group are not natural.

But Are they incorrect?

I know people say "can you hear me?"

So is it right to say hear a dog, a cellphone, a sheep and a truck?
