HEAR OR READ

It is wrong to type "i hear you" while chatting with someone, but it's right to type " i can read you" since you don't hear from the person by vocal, but by typing

Strange as it may seem, we still use the expression, “I hear you!” in written correspondence. However, we don’t have an expression, “I can read you.”
“I hear you!” (with or without the exclamation point/mark) means ‘I hear what you are saying and recognize it as an opinion being expressed.’ We may then follow it with an indication of agreement or disagreement.
