That is not an expression to do with chess. To heap is to make a pile, especially a large, messy pile: "She heaped a plate with pilaf and set it on the table." To heap something upon something or someone (often someone's head) is a fossilized expression kept alive by the Bible: "I will heap mischiefs (or misfortunes) upon them ...." (Deuteronomy 32:23)
